Short bio (60 words)
Dr. NRS is a small-animal vet (BVSc & AH 2002, MVSc Surgery 2005) with two decades of practice. He runs GoodDeath.in, an editorial home for end-of-life veterinary practice in India, and is the lead drafter of the proposed Right-to-Death (Companion Animals) Act. He writes in English, Hindi, and Bengali, and consults privately on difficult quality-of-life decisions.
Topics he can speak to
- The decision-making framework for euthanasia in companion animals — when, how, and at what threshold.
- The HHHHHMM quality-of-life scoring system in clinical practice.
- Pet bereavement — the clinical and ethical literature, and what owners actually go through.
- The legislative gap in Indian companion-animal end-of-life law, and the proposed Right-to-Death Act.
- Schedule X drug access and its consequences for veterinary practice in India.
- Compassion fatigue in veterinary medicine — the structural and the personal.
Recent contributions to the public conversation

What I am not
- Not a grief counsellor — though I write about pet bereavement, I refer clients with complicated grief to mental health professionals.
- Not a lawyer — I draft policy proposals; I do not provide legal advice.
- Not affiliated with any pharmaceutical company, pet-food company, or veterinary insurance company. No undisclosed conflicts of interest.
