Home vs clinic in Delhi NCR

Delhi traffic, summer heat, and high-rise apartment blocks make clinic visits a meaningful welfare burden for end-stage animals. The car ride from Gurgaon Sector 50 to a Defence Colony clinic is, in May at 3pm, more than the dog should have to do. Home is the kinder default for most cases.

Clinic euthanasia is appropriate when the animal travels comfortably, when the clinic offers a private room with unhurried slot, or when home visits are unavailable in your timeframe.

Eight questions to ask any vet

  1. What sedation will you use, at what dose?
  2. Will you confirm unconsciousness before the lethal injection?
  3. What lethal agent do you use? (See our drug explainer.)
  4. Can I be present throughout?
  5. How long will the appointment last?
  6. What if IV access fails?
  7. What does cremation cost and how is it arranged?
  8. May I see the consent form in advance?

What you should pay, 2026

  • Communal cremation: ₹2,000–₹3,500.
  • Individual cremation with ashes returned: ₹4,000–₹8,000.

Cremation in Delhi NCR

Several private operators serve Delhi NCR. Friendicoes at Defence Colony handles lower-cost communal cremation. Most home-visit vets have a standing arrangement with one private provider and coordinate transit as part of the package. Confirm: communal vs individual; sealed urn or card box; paw-print inclusion.

On the day, and after

Have one trusted person present who is not the primary owner. Eat before the appointment. Plan nothing for the next 12 hours. See grief after pet euthanasia for the trajectory of the weeks ahead.

Common questions

Is home euthanasia available across Delhi NCR?
Yes — Delhi, Gurgaon (Gurugram), Noida, and Faridabad all have small home-visit veterinary networks. South Delhi (Greater Kailash, Hauz Khas, Defence Colony) and Gurgaon’s newer sectors have the most options. Best with 24-72 hours of notice.
How much does pet euthanasia cost in Delhi NCR?
Clinic: ₹2,500-₹5,000 in 2026. Home visits: ₹6,000-₹12,000 depending on neighbourhood and time. Cremation: ₹4,000-₹8,000 individual, ₹2,000-₹3,500 communal. Gurgaon and South Delhi at the higher end.
Are pet crematoriums available?
Yes — several private operators serve Delhi NCR with facilities in West Delhi, Gurgaon, and around the city peripheries. Most home-visit vets coordinate transit.
What about Friendicoes and the Delhi SPCA?
Friendicoes (in South Delhi) offers humane euthanasia and communal cremation at substantially lower cost — useful if budget is the binding constraint. Clinical care is competent. What you trade is the privacy of a home visit and the ability to schedule outside clinic hours.
